Kevin Fish (Keynote Address-Committees: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly? & Workshop 1: Step by Step- to great club governance) 


Kevin was Manager of the Glen Golf Club in North Berwick- Scotland for nine years, during which time he won the UK Club Manager of the Year award & went on to be in the first group of Managers to secure the Certified Club Manager designation in Europe. Kevin has spent the last six years working for the National Governing Body for Golf in Scotland where he created and trained a team to help Scottish golf clubs take a more business-like approach to their club activities through a combination of effective governance, business planning and education. Married to Carol, Kevin has four children and two dogs, and in his spare time was the Chairman of the CMAE Education Policy Board that introduced the CMAA education pathway to Europe. In 2014 he became the first European to be selected to serve on the Professional Development Board for CMAA, a group responsible for overseeing the global curriculum for club managers. As the Governance Gatekeeper in Europe Kevin consistently achieves very high evaluations from delegates across the continent, and has addressed the CMAA World Conference of Club Management on nine occasions.

Svend Elkjaer is the founder and director of Sports Marketing Network (SMN) the network for people involved with the innovation, community, enter

prise and marketing issues across all sports.

SMN provides information on how to make your club more viable, vibrant and visible, sharing best practice across all sports. It publishes newsletters, organises seminars and helps sports clubs with their commercial, communication and community activities.

Over the last ten years, more than 4,000 sports providers have benefitted from SMN's services attending our workshops and presentations, being mentored or receiving consultancy.

SMN has also advised, consulted and trained a number of organisations and public bodies in Scotland including currently sportscotland, Cricket Scotland, East Fife Sports Council, several Community Sport Hubs and local authorities.

Bowls Scotland Regional Development Officers Laura Kerr and Stuart Bell work in different regions of Scotland with local bowls clubs to support them in various key areas of development. Both offer support in areas of membership recruitment and retention as well as in areas of business planning, governance, coaching and funding applications.
