TRY BOWLS

Over 215 Scottish bowling clubs are now signed up to Bowls Scotland’s Try Bowls campaign. Now moving into its third year, Try Bowls has been extremely successful with estimated figures showing that over 4000 people have tried the sport through the campaign and on average participating clubs are attracting nine new members per year.

Your club can benefit from the growing popularity of the campaign and learn from other member clubs by signing up to Try Bowls for 2016.

Why should our club take part in Try Bowls?

This is a free opportunity for Bowls Scotland member clubs to promote themselves to prospective new members.

All clubs that sign up will be featured on the Try Bowls website www.trybowls.com which is where we direct online traffic through our advertising campaigns nationally. If you don’t sign up then your club won’t feature on the Try Bowls website.

How do we take part?

To be part of the campaign all your club needs to do is download, complete and return the ‘Club Profile Form’ and inform us what recruitment events you have planned for 2016.The information provided will be displayed on our campaign website meaning that any new participants can locate your club and find out how they can get involved.

PLEASE COMPLETE AND RETURN THE CLUB PROFILE FORM BY THE 25TH MARCH 2016 TO BE ADDED TO THE CAMPAIGN WEBSITE. ALL CLUBS THAT SIGN-UP, ORGANISE A RECRUITMENT EVENT AND RETURN THEIR FORM BY THE 25TH MARCH WILL BE ENTERED INTO A DRAW TO WIN A FREE SET OF BOWLSPARC EQUIPMENT.

What can your club do to fully embrace this opportunity?

Although your club can sign up by simply completing the Club Profile Form, we would strongly recommend that you plan recruitment events and activities during the bowling season.

This could be as simple as holding a Community Family Open Day, introducing new member offers or, for maximum impact, it could be regular new member coaching and/or social bowls sessions planned through August and September.

Please remember that if you don’t provide additional events for new members to come along or make participation as easy as possible, people are unlikely to come to your club. Please have a look at our ‘10 top tips for recruitment’ to help you plan your events and we also have a ‘Club Toolkit’ section on the Bowls Scotland website which provides further supporting documents and event ideas for clubs.

To publish your recruitment event information on the Try Bowls website please complete the Event Profile Form.
