    Some clubs may have their own rules around what members should wear however to play bowls all you need is a pair of flat soled shoes.

  • What should I bring with me?

    All you need to bring with you are flat soled shoes and depending on the weather a waterproof jacket.

    Each bowling club may charge their own membership fees and many Try Bowls clubs offer opportunities where beginners and those new to the sport can try bowls for free with some offering discounted prices for new members.

    You can find the Rules of the Game in our Rules section however many of our bowls clubs over coaching opportunities where beginners can learn how to play the sport from other bowlers.

  • Are there any age restrictions?

    Bowls is an inclusive sport that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Many of our clubs have youth sections for younger people as well as senior sections for those over 55.

  • I am not very fit, will this be an issue?

    As a sport, bowls is unique. Although bowls can help to improve your physical fitness and coordination, the sport can be enjoyed by all no matter of a person’s fitness and is often recommended by physiotherapists as a low-impact form of exercise.
