Scottish Super Series: what's new for 2017? PDF Print E-mail

Scottish Super Series|| What’s new for 2017?

You asked… we listened!

After the 2016 Scottish Super Series, Bowls Scotland looked to gain feedback on the competition. A Player Survey and General Survey were sent out asking for feedback from those who played in the competition in 2016, bowlers who had not taken part and other key stakeholders within the bowling community.

The information was then collated and based on the feedback from players and those who responded to the General Survey, key changes have been made to the Scottish Super Series for 2017!
GRAND FINALS:will be held at the National Centre for Bowling, Northfield, Ayr

Over 50% of those that answered our general survey advised they would prefer the Grand Finals to be at the National Centre for Bowling at Northfield, Ayr.

Further Comments:

“Consider an alternative venue than Kelvingrove which has better facilities such as on-site catering and free parking to encourage spectators to come along and support the players.”

REGIONAL QUALIFIERS & FINALS: have been moved to earlier in the year.

Feedback from both the player survey and the general survey highlighted that the majority of respondents would prefer the dates of the Regional Qualifiers and Grand Finals to be earlier in the year. This would prevent clashes with club finals.

Nearly 50% of player respondents wanted to move Regional Qualifiers and Grand Finals to earlier in the season and 60% of general survey respondents advised that the Regional Qualifiers and Grand Finals should be earlier in the year. We have moved these in hope that it will allow more people to enter and in turn the competition will continue to grow.

Regional Qualifiers:

Singles           Sunday 9th July 2017

Pairs               Sunday 16th July 2017

Grand Finals at National Centre For Bowling, Northfield:

Pairs               12th & 13th August 2017

Singles           19th & 20th August 2017

REGIONAL QUALIFIERS: have been changed to 1 day but there are now 10 qualifying regions.

Feedback from both the player and general survey indicated that players may struggle to play qualifiers over both days on a weekend due to work and family commitments. Regional Qualifiers will now take place on two Sundays, one for the Singles and one for the pairs however there are now 10 qualifying regions for players to enter:

Comments:

-       “Introduce more qualifying venues so that in their regions players don’t have to travel as far.”

-       “Do not run Regional Qualifiers on the weekends before the Grand Finals. A break between would help with work/family commitments.”

Regional Qualifiers:

Singles           Sunday 9th July 2017

Pairs               Sunday 16th July 2017

Players can enter into ANY of the 10 regional qualifying areas:
